Re: The wise words of the late Bobby Kennedy

Every time I read the following words by the late Robert Kennedy I think how true they are for our dance world. How sad so few lack the courage to act.

"Few will have the greatness to bend history; but each of us can work to change a small portion of events, and in the total of all those acts will be written the history of this generation ... It is from numberless diverse acts of courage and belief that human history is thus shaped. Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring, those ripples build a current which can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance."

Barry

This does indeed apply to our insignificant dance world. And it does appear that maybe few have the courage to act against injustice as of yet, as you say.  But intolerence is certainly growing as every day passes. Sambatogo urges everyone to stand up for their basic human rights, and act against all forms of dictatorship, and stand up for freedom and democracy in our dance world!!

Barry,

you ask to be spoon fed.    Read  the previous responses and find answers to your own questions, I would not want to make it too long and too boring, and waste my time  4U to stop somewhere  in the middle.

No one has questioned,  even mentioned intelligence  till you came along.

Since mentioned,   intelligent people make mistakes too,  and  I urge you to read again , what I believe,  Quicktime2 and FBI  wrote ,   even  you believe the responses came from one and the same person,    because it is the message which is  important not at all the name(s)  under which posters log on.

It has been some time ago  BK spoke those beautiful words, and we treasure them, and many of us had a chance to act in that spirit.  Where have you been before March 2008 ?  Kept on peeking on,  looking over somebody else's shoulder  ?  Many more  contributors are needed  to make difference.   Why   disregard  Quicktime2 suggestion ?   Come back as a Big Bad Wolf  for what others care.  What is so special about  nick name Barry, or,  Think of me  ? In fact Big Bad Wolf is not a bad idea which I myself  may consider.

Staying away and reading what others write and think  is OK and safe,  just, please   don't snipe with negative private messages, and be upset if you get a polite and a respectful answer.    You mentioned  ripples in the water,   a single contributor can make just a teeny one .

You quote some-one's  idea, a very good thought  ,  but head in opposite  direction.

Sambatogo urges everyone to stand up for their basic human rights, and act against all forms of dictatorship, and stand up for freedom and democracy in our dance world.

This is a good stuff  Sambatogo !

I am fine on the human rights,  why would you stop with "the basic" ,  what's wrong to back entire  "human rights"  ?

As for "all forms of dictatorship" ?  IF you were in a position to drop the requirement for  a dual dance association membership in the same country ,  would you Sambatogo  drop the existing requirement  so that dancers from other associations could come, enter and participate in the events which you  offer  ?  ( that is of course,  if you were in such a position of authority,  which I am not suggesting you are, just an example   )
